Today, Greg Martin is a principal of Greg Martin Auctions, the preeminent auctioneer of investment quality
firearms in the country. The company was launched with two other veterans of Butterfields (now Bonhams &
Butterfields), John Gallo, its former president, and former owner Bernard Osher. With Martin presiding as
Director and Leading Authority of the Arms & Armor Department, the three had worked together from 1986-1999,
creating the largest and most prestigious arms & armor department in the world. The team reunited in 2002
to form Greg Martin Auctions, continuing their path of success. Now approaching its three-year anniversary
this June, the company has under its belt over $27 million in sales, seven auctions and sales of some of the
most important arms ever sold. The firm has also established several world records, including the highest
price ever paid for a single firearm at auction -- $828,800 for a cased 1849 Colt with elaborate scroll
and gold inlay by master engraver Gustave Young.
Based in San Francisco with representation in New York and New England, Greg Martin Auctions provides
collectors, institutions, dealer and enthusiasts with unsurpassed expertise and a complete range of services
to appraise, value, market and sell antique arms, armor and historical memorabilia. The company's full-service
approach to auctions include bi-coastal linked auction rooms, real-time telephone bidding, absentee bidding
